Welcome Message to WTUC

Dear West Tokyo Union Church family,

I am blessed to be sending you this letter as the new WTUC Steering Committee Chair of 2026-27 church year. It is my privilege to be given this opportunity to serve God and to serve you.

WTUC is a unique church. As small as we are, the church continues to remain standing in the West Tokyo community. A church is its people. WTUC is unique with its people. The commitments, dedications and love of its talented pool of people kept the church going and will continue to keep it going.

As we prepare to begin a new church year, please allow me to share with you my priority this year.

The keyword is “GROWTH”.

The foundation of “GROWTH” lies in a spiritual “GROWTH”, which keeps us grounded in God’s Will. A strong spiritual “GROWTH” brings us to multiple levels of “GROWTH”. I believe that “GROWTH” helps us move forward in the new church year.

WTUC has been able to do something really well over generations; that is, everyone in WTUC contributes in an unique way to help sustain the church. In this new church year, I urge that we share the same priority in unity as a community of Christ.

Pastor Jonathan and the Steering Committee will work together to lead and make informed decisions, addressing the potential challenges and changes, driven by the uncertainties of our worship location, our financial situation and our decreasing manpower. In the coming months, we will share our plans, strategies and activities with you. Each step we take, we revisit “GROWTH”.

Having been a member of WTUC for the past 2 decades, I truly believe that God put each one of us in this church and this community for a reason. Each member is gifted with something to help our church over the past years. Going forward, trusting in God, and allowing Him to work through each one of us, let’s continue to pour our love to nurture this special community He has given us. I trust that God will work through you and He will continue to watch over our church. Together, we continue to help our church strive. Through Him, we grow together.

Acts 2:46-47 (ESV Version)

“And day by day, attending the temple together and breaking bread in their homes, they received their food with glad and generous hearts, praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to their number day by day those who were being saved.”

I look forward to seeing you soon.

Sincerely yours,
Ann Tang
