A full, resurrected life

Dear WTUC Family,

As we approach the end of Lent culminating this weekend in Easter Sunday, I can’t help but think about how our risen King means a full, resurrected life for us who are in Christ. For His resurrection is our resurrection, and His coming means our restoration. We are given an eternal purpose, one that is heavenly focused while being empowered on earth. I invite you to come and join us this coming Sunday as we put particular focus on Christ’s resurrection.

We will be gathering on the campus of Japan Lutheran College and Theological Seminary for Easter. Our festivities start at 10:15 a.m., when we will be holding an Easter Egg Hunt for the younger members of our community. Then we will gather at 11:00 a.m. in Room 105 for our worship service. We will be observing the Lord’s Supper, and we will also collect a special Easter offering for Second Harvest Japan. This will be followed by a group photo and a time of special fellowship in the cafeteria. If you attend regularly, we ask that you bring a dessert that we can all share. Please invite your friends and family to this special service! More details here!

I write this on Good Friday, recognizing that Christ’s death is for our good, for without His death, we cannot talk about His resurrection. We wait in anticipation through Holy Saturday for Easter. I look forward to seeing you then as we celebrate and lift high the cross to proclaim the love of Christ throughout our community and with the whole Church throughout the world.

Speaking of celebrations, we have been celebrating the Lord’s faithfulness to WTUC over the past 60 years. Former WTUC pastor Claudia Genung-Yamamoto joined us in the fall for a guest message, and coming up over the rest of the WTUC calendar year, we are going to be hearing from alums and former pastors sharing about God’s faithfulness. On Sunday, April 12, Dan Witmer will be joining us, and we have many more lined up throughout the next several weeks. Please make sure to come see our visitors joining virtually and getting a chance to catch up with them!

See you on Easter Sunday!
Jonathan
