Cherry Blossoms… Coming Soon

Dear WTUC Family,

I hope that you had a wonderful week. We are definitely going through the spring transition now. From warm, sunny days to cold, windy rain, we’re getting all sorts of different weather now. Hopefully you’re doing okay with the pollen that’s been flying through this season.

We’re getting close to the time when cherry blossoms will begin showing up around Tokyo. Our WTUC Youth leaders are planning for a Hanami (Cherry Blossom Viewing) Picnic for youth at WTUC and in the surrounding area. It is scheduled for Palm Sunday, March 29 at Nogawa Park beginning at 12:30 p.m. More details are coming, but if you know of those in middle and high school who might be interested in attending, please direct them to email youth@wtuc.net for information and to register their interest.

Coming up this Sunday, we are going to be gathering online via Zoom for worship beginning at 11:00 a.m. Rev. Dr. Paul Shew will be joining us to give the message. For more information, check out our calendar page.

As a reminder, we will not be gathering on Sunday, March 15 during the weekend of the Women’s Conference. Instead, we are encouraging WTUC members who are not going to WoCon to join folks at Tokyo Union Church, whether in person on Omotesando or online. The service will begin at 11:00 a.m., and I will be preaching that Sunday. You can get more details here.

One other thing I would like to mention. On Sunday, March 22, TUC will be hosting a Lenten Taize service. If you are interested in participating in a meditative service during this Lenten season, you can join the service at TUC’s Omotesando campus at 2:30 p.m..

I hope that you have a blessed rest of the week.
Jonathan
