Reflections during our celebration

Dear WTUC Family,

I hope that you had a wonderful week! It was so good to gather with our sisters and brothers at Mitaka Lutheran Church this past Pentecost Sunday. It was wonderful to see everyone and to hear the various languages during our reading of Acts 2. I hope that you were blessed through the service and were able to honor and worship God. Pastor Toppo Takamura sends his thanks and also invites everyone again during the summer months when WTUC is on break to join in their service at 9:30 a.m. in Brown Hall.

This coming Sunday, we are welcoming back Toshi and Masami Sasao as a part of our WTUC 60th Anniversary Celebration! The Sasaos were part of the West Tokyo Union Church family for over 15 years. Since 1999, they faithfully shared their gifts, presence, and encouragement within the life of the WTUC church community when Rev. Claudia Genung was the pastor here. Together with their daughter Michelle, who was baptized and raised at WTUC alongside several other children of the church family, they experienced this congregation not simply as a place of worship but as an intergenerational spiritual home. WTUC became a community where faith was nurtured, friendships were formed, and life was shared across cultures, ages, and backgrounds. Toshi and Masami will share reflections from their journey at WTUC and how God has sustained them through the love and faithfulness of this congregation. We will be gathering online via Zoom beginning at 11:00 a.m., and so I hope you will join us. More details on our calendar page.

Please stay cool in this heat as we are seeing these up and down swings. I hope that you have a blessed rest of the week!

Jonathan
