Let’s Celebrate!

Dear WTUC Family,

I hope that you are doing well and that you are having a good end to the week. We have been dealing with a sudden spike in temperatures, and so I hope that you’ve been taking care of yourselves in this heat.

I am looking forward to this coming Sunday as we are going to be having Celebration Sunday at WTUC! We are going to be meeting in person for the final time for this 2024-2025 WTUC Calendar year in Room 105 on the campus of Japan Lutheran College and Theological Seminary beginning at 11:00 a.m. We will be observing the Lord’s Supper during this service. Carol Sack will be continuing on our series on Stewardship with a message titled “The Magnificent Adventure”. I hope that you will join us for the service followed by an off-site time of celebration. This is going to be an exciting weekend as we recognize God’s faithfulness to WTUC and through the lives of the Sacks and the Ingulsruds who have been with us for decades. In addition, we will be celebrating the graduation of Sopheen Lee and the first birthday of Mikayla Oh. If for some reason you have not notified us about joining for the after service fellowship, please contact Betsy Terada immediately at scchair@wtuc.net to check on possible accommodations. More on the service on our Calendar page!

Our Stewardship series will conclude next Sunday, June 29 during our online Dedication Sunday service. As we heard from a couple members of our WTUC Steering Committee, it is time for us to respond as we look toward the 2025-2026 WTUC calendar year, which will be our 60th anniversary! Please prayerfully prepare for this final service for the year before our summer break. For ideas on how you may be able to serve, please visit our Outreach page, which includes serving both within and outside WTUC through our outreach partners.

As we look toward our summer break, folks who may be staying in town may wonder where to worship during the months of July and August. I highly encourage finding a congregation near you, including Mitaka Lutheran Church, who will be meeting in Brown Hall over the summer. You can also consider joining Tokyo Union Church, either in person on Omotesando or online at tokyounion.org. If you need help locating a place to worship, please feel free to reach out to me, and I will try to get you connected!

Blessings to you, and see you on Sunday!
Jonathan
