Merry Christmas!

Dear WTUC Family,

Our time of Christmas celebration reaches its climax as we go through Christmas Eve and Christmas Day! No matter where you may be, may this greeting reach you with glad tidings. The celebration of Christ’s birth is something worth doing every year, and from our family to yours, Merry Christmas.

In order to be able to celebrate this joyous occasion, we will be doing our services online again this season. While we will be premiering our services at a designated time, please also note that you can also join the service at any time after the premiere.

The Christmas Eve service will premiere on Christmas Eve at 6:00 p.m. Japan time. This service is a Lessons and Carols service, and it will be the same format as last year’s Christmas Eve service. You can check it out on the Christmas Page here along with the bulletin and hymn insert. There will be a chat link available for those gathering specifically during the premiere.

The Christmas Morning service will premiere on Christmas Day at 9:00 a.m. Japan time. This service is patterned similarly to a traditional weekly service, and we will get to see a special Good News for Kids message presented by our long-time member Ruth Ingulsrud. I will also be delivering a homily about Christmas verified! You can check the service out on the Christmas Page here along with the bulletin. There will be a chat link available for those gathering specifically during the premiere.

In addition to our two online Christmas services, our Sunday morning service on December 28 will also be a YouTube Premiere format. Rev. Dr. Tim Boyle will be delivering a message that is timely as we wrap up 2025. You can review the bulletin and get the link to the service on our calendar page.

We will be resuming our in-person services on Sunday, January 4, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. on the campus of Japan Lutheran College and Theological Seminary Room 105. We will be observing the Lord’s Supper during the service, and Rev. Dr. Paul Shew will be bringing a message that will get us started well in the new year. You can read about the service here.

This will be the last Letter to the Congregation for 2025. Merry Christmas, and a Happy New Year to you! See you online and again in 2026!

Blessings,
Jonathan
