Our 60 Year Celebration

Dear WTUC Family,

I hope that you had a blessed week. We have an exciting service coming up this Sunday as we welcome back Rev. Claudia Genung-Yamamoto. Pastor Claudia served as pastor of West Tokyo Union Church from 1994 to 2011 and is now currently serving at Yokohama Union Church. We are welcoming her back as a part of our 60 year anniversary celebration! Please come join us this Sunday at 11:00 a.m. on the campus of Japan Lutheran College and Theological Seminary, where we will be worshipping in person in Room 105. Please make sure to bring a snack or finger food to share in our fellowship hour after the service. You can learn more about the service here.

Speaking of our 60 year anniversary, we as a church are thankful for the Lord’s faithfulness over these many decades, and the question is - how is God leading us for the future of our church? As the community around us changes, we too must listen and be able to serve as salt and light to the people where we are and where they are. What does that mean for how we are operating as a church community? I ask that you spend some time in prayer, for our congregation and particularly for the leaders of WTUC as we embark on hearing what the Lord has to say. We look forward to discussing as a church this important topic soon in the midst of our celebration of God’s faithfulness to our community.

I hope that you have a wonderful and blessed weekend!
Jonathan
