Fall is here!

Hello, WTUC Family.

Well, we are in October, and it certainly feels like autumn. We finally got some drier weather with some sun this week, and hopefully, we can enjoy this changing of the season. This weekend, WTUC will be holding a Fall Soba Outing at Lake Nojiri in order to harvest the buckwheat that was planted during the WTUC Summer Youth Camp! Pray for safe travels Saturday and Sunday, and pray that this will be a blessed time for all who will be there.

Before I get to Sunday’s service, I wanted to let you know about Saturday’s Celebration of Life service for Rev. Debbie Julian at Yokohama Union Church. It will be held at 3 p.m. at YUC, and those who are attending are being asked to wear colorful clothing. Cash and online donations can be made to the church with the memo: “in memory of Debbie”, and these funds will be used to send her husband Ronald and their sons, Josh and Matt, to the Philippines so they can return her ashes there. There will be other memorial services held for Debbie in the Philippines. You can share a memory here, and if you are not able to attend the service, you can also watch it live here.

This Sunday is World Communion Sunday. We will be gathering in person on the campus of Japan Lutheran College and Theological Seminary in Room 105. Our service will begin at 11:00 a.m., and as it is World Communion Sunday, we will be observing the Lord’s Supper during the service. We are continuing our series “We Three Kings”. For those who attend the service regularly, we ask that you bring finger food or a snack to share during our fellowship hour. For more on the service, you can view the calendar event here.

I look forward to seeing you on Sunday. Have a wonderful weekend!

Blessings,
Jonathan
