From young and old, from great and small
Dear WTUC Family,
I hope that you had a great week. We’ve gone through a bit of a roller coaster ride when it comes to the weather the past few days. I hope that you are staying healthy in the midst of all of the changes.
Coming up Sunday, we are going to be holding our virtual Youth Sunday at WTUC! Please join us online via Zoom at 11:00 a.m. as we worship the living God together. From the words of the young to the wisdom of the elders, our congregation benefits greatly from the generations of people who gather together. We are hoping to see more growth for our church, especially among our younger ones, and so this Sunday, as part of an annual tradition, we will be holding Youth Sunday. You can find more details about the service on our calendar page.
On Sunday, June 1, we will not be gathering in person for our service. We will be doing our worship service online that Sunday. We will, however, be gathering in person in a joint service with our sisters and brothers at Mitaka Lutheran Church on Pentecost Sunday, June 8 at 10:30 a.m. (Note the slightly earlier time). This will be located at the chapel on the campus of Japan Lutheran College and Theological Seminary. If you are available to read in a language other than English or Japanese during our Acts 2 reading that Sunday, please let me know at pastor@wtuc.net as soon as possible. We would love to hear all of the different languages spoken for that service. (This will be a live, in-person service, and so we won’t be able to use recordings or online readings.)
We are going to then transition toward the wrap-up of our WTUC calendar year starting June 15, where Ruth Ingulsrud will kick off our stewardship series. We will have a chance to hear testimonies for a couple of Sundays on how we can give our whole selves to God in service and in finances.
Also, mark your calendars for Sunday, June 22 as it will be Celebration Sunday at WTUC. We will be gathering in person at 11:00 a.m. in our regular meeting Room 105 on the campus of Japan Lutheran College. We will be celebrating quite a few things that Sunday, including the Sacks, who have dedicated so much of their life to serving God and the people of God at WTUC, Japan Lutheran Theological Seminary, and in many other ways. We are also celebrating the graduation of one of our younger members at WTUC. Plus there will be a birthday celebration and a big fellowship hour hosted by Ann Tang. So make sure to mark the date!
We will then wrap up our WTUC calendar year on Sunday, June 29, which will be our Dedication Sunday. We will look forward to seeing how we can serve the Lord with our time and talents in the upcoming church year. This final service before summer break will be held online via Zoom.
I hope that you are excited about the next few weeks in the life of our church. All of the information for the upcoming services can be found on our Calendar page. Please pray for the Steering Committee as they prepare to making some important decisions for the upcoming year. Also, keep everyone in your prayers for health and for spiritual strength. If you ever need prayer, please do not hesitate to reach us through the Prayer page.
I look forward to seeing you on Sunday! Have a wonderful weekend in Christ!
