What goes up must come down… and that’s good news

Hello, WTUC Family.

I hope that you’re staying warm and dry in this roller coaster ride of temperatures this past week. One day, it felt like the middle of summer, and then we see windy rain and colder temperatures. I hope that you are staying healthy in the midst of all this change.

I wanted to write a special note of thanks to our youth and to Ruth Ingulsrud, who put together the Youth Sunday service this past week. We were incredibly touched by the testimonies and stories shared during this service, which served as a reminder that the Lord does speak to us through the lives of the younger members of our congregation. Through thick and thin, through good times and bad, God is with us, and we were reminded of this truth. Praise be to God as we can trust in the Lord through it all.

Coming up this Sunday, we are observing Ascension Sunday, when our Lord Jesus Christ ascended back into Heaven into the presence of the Father. Even though Christ might have physically departed us at that time, He promised us that the Holy Spirit will be with us, and that someday, Christ will come back for us. We will hear about how this is Good News for us during our online service via Zoom at 11:00 a.m. We will not be gathering in person this weekend.

However, next Sunday, June 8, 2025, we will be holding a joint service with our sisters and brothers at Mitaka Lutheran Church at 10:30 a.m. We have a lot planned for this service, including our many different language readers from both congregations as well as a special Good News for Kids with Ruth Ingulsrud. Please plan to join in on this special service next week at the chapel of Japan Lutheran College and Theological Seminary. Wearing red or traditional clothing of your homeland is welcome and encouraged!

You can check out all of the details on our Calendar page, including our upcoming Celebration Sunday service and fellowship on June 22! Please make sure to join us then as well.

Have a wonderful weekend, and see you on Sunday!
Jonathan
