Before heading off to summer break…
Hello, WTUC Family.
Before we head off to summer break, I wanted to write just a few things to you. First of all, thank you so much for graciously welcoming my family and me this past year. It has truly been a blessing to us to be walking together in this journey as we seek to draw closer to Christ and to one another. I am so grateful for the opportunity to serve this past year, and I look forward to continuing this relationship in the upcoming year at WTUC.
As we head off to summer break, I would like to ask you to take some time to make a pledge regarding your time, talent, and/or finances for the upcoming year. We are called to serve God through our love and service, for the Lord and for each other. We have been going through a series on stewardship the past few weeks, hearing from Ruth Ingulsrud and Carol Sack, before we had our Dedication Sunday service this past week. Please remember that this is simply a pledge - it does not obligate you in any way, though it would be helpful if you could let us know if your circumstances have changed so that it will help the leadership figure out how best to encourage the members of the congregation in serving. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.
During the summer break, let me encourage you to find a local congregation to worship and to grow in Christ. Our sister congregation, Tokyo Union Church, will continue to gather over the summer each Sunday at 11:00 a.m., in person at Omote-sando and also online at tokyounion.org/live. I personally will be preaching this coming Sunday as well as August 10, and so you are welcome to join us throughout the summer as we finish up the series on the Nicene Creed and then start a new series called “Things the Bible Doesn’t Say”. No matter where you are worshiping, may the Lord bless you and those who are around you when you gather.
If you at any time need prayer, please do not hesitate to contact our prayer team by visiting our Prayer page. You can also reach me if you need to chat with me by making an appointment or sending me a message through the Pastor page.
Please continue to keep our upcoming Youth and Family retreat at the end of this month. We pray that the youth are blessed during this new event and that it will allow everyone who is participating a time of rest, refreshment, and fun.
This Letter to the Congregation might stay quiet during the summer months, but don’t be surprised if an email comes your way mid-summer to check in on how you’re doing. Please take care of yourselves during the hot summer months, and I look forward to seeing you again on the first Sunday of September.
With much joy in Christ,
Jonathan
